SeatGeek Hires New Chief Technology Officer
Brian Murphy, former executive at Tumblr, The New York Times and Condé Nast, joins SeatGeek to oversee global product team.
NEW YORK, NY (May 1, 2019) — SeatGeek, the leading mobile-focused ticket platform, announced today the hiring of Brian Murphy as Chief Technology Officer. Brian will oversee the development and enhancement of SeatGeek’s product and technology across all platforms. Based out of SeatGeek’s headquarters in New York, Brian will lead the engineering teams across the company’s domestic and international offices.
Brian joins SeatGeek after three years at Tumblr, where he was Chief Technology Officer and led the engineering team across various functions, including product, data science, security and more. During his tenure at Tumblr, Brian oversaw teams that worked to optimize the product for hundreds of millions of users. Under his leadership, Tumblr’s engineering teams collaborated cross-functionally, emphasized data-driven decisions and thrived in an environment that fostered innovation and sustainability. Prior to Tumblr, Brian was Vice President of Engineering at The New York Times, and spent nearly a decade as the Senior Director of Technology at Condé Nast, where he oversaw the digital execution of its award winning brands.
Brian is joining SeatGeek at a time of immense expansion for the ticketing technology provider as it continues to build and improve the live event experience. Brian will lead the technology teams across both SeatGeek’s consumer and enterprise offerings, helping millions of fans attend events across the globe. As Chief Technology Officer, Brian will work with SeatGeek’s hundreds of primary ticketing partners, a group that ranges from the Dallas Cowboys and Manchester City Football Club, to LW Theatres on London’s West End.

In this role, Brian will direct the efforts of the engineering teams and build out a world class technology team. He will collaborate with the rest of SeatGeek’s executive team and contribute to the overall company vision and strategy.
